I paid about $150 for both headlights plus the protective 3M film covering. Looks like new, crystal clear. Before, i butchered the job myself.
So you're saying these lens have 3M film on them?

my progression was 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2500

then i went in with some rubbing compound to cut it more, then went to a less abrasive polishing compound then did a final cut and polish.

to finish them off i coated them with a protective urathane UV coating. this sealed the lights and made the lens look like GLASS. it also protect from fading and yellowing.

topped it all off with a coat of wax

is there a way to post pics on here natively or do i need a third party site?

I didn't use that many progressions, I guess I need to get more paper and try it again. I did, however, use a drill and a polishing wheel to finish them and then I used some "headlight shiner" stuff that smelled like it was oil based. There was still a haze when I was done but it was better then before I started. The yellowing was pretty much gone. I was just not satisfied because of the haze...and if you look closely you can still see the stratched from the paper. I think I stopped with 1000 or 1500. Must not have been fine enough.

you NEED to go higher and you NEED to use a rubbing compound followed by a polishing compound.

the final urethane step is critical to getting it to look like GLASS also.

Best kit ever.
For proof I can post pics tomorrow. I just polished one that was laying down at junkyard ground for god knows how long ( yes I broke mine and paid at "remove ur self" junkyard 20$ with ballast ) The key is that rubbery pad. After u sand it with provided paper, use that pad with a little water. Press it hard and firm, go slow and don't worry about getting warm just take ur time. Or if you in ct area just come on down we buy that kit , 12 pack of Guinness and we can do it together.

Btw 50$ that's one expensive pizza

You need a 3rd party site. I use tinypic.com. Pretty easy.

Thanks for the progression. You were very thorough. I have limited patience for such tasks....

I've used this kit and it works well except for the pitted part on the top of the lenses.

One thing I've learned the hard way is to put a dropcloth over the engine as well as mask the lenses...polishing compound gets thrown all over and can be difficult and time consuming to get off.

Where would one buy the urethane coating? Is it in a spray can?

EDIT:
Is this OK? CLICK HERE FOR SPRAY

Quick research says some poeple recommend using mineral sprits along with the the spray as a diluent. Is that correct?

Mine do now. The film will prevent the lenses from clouding again. If you don't protect the newly polished lenses, they will get cloudy again soon.
