Default I'm going ethanol-less

Most Audi drivers know to use premium gas and some even insist on 93, but the ethanol issue is important to consider too. I found this link in the forums: www.pure-gas.org. Now I'm filling up with ethanol-free gas from the only little gas station in my town that sells it. They only take a commercial gas card, which I had to apply for. Mostly big rigs and commercial vehicles filling up there, plus one happy ethanol-free Audi.

Shell V-Power is ethanol free.

Also, it matters a lot more for DI engines than our non-FSI engines, but it won't hurt not to have it.

It must be regional. Shell V-Power in Northern VA is like all other gas here, 10% ethanol blend.

a bit more advice, upon reflection.

Since most gas, within grade, IS similar, the real differences are:

1. grade
2. cleanliness
3. freshness
4. The person you buy it from

So i actually choose my gas based on those factors. Well maintained tanks. Nice people. High volume. And, when i had a turbo, the highest grade i could get, nto counting the airport or the track. once that was Sunoco 94. No more.

Yeah, remember the pumps where you could buy 107 octane? (I'm really dating myself...)

Shell regular - 10% ethanol
Shell mid-grade - 5% ethanol
Shell V-power - 0 ethanol

Quite a few posters reported the same, but perhaps in Canada.

Default Interesting comments here.

So far I have been using Shell V-power here and it claims 0% ethanol and I'm not a big fan of BP gas that seems to be big around this neck of the woods here.

Mostly a convenience thing, but I frequent Mobil and Sunoco. Shell every now and then when my rewards points from the grocery store give me enough for discounts on fill-up. Come to think of it, next fill-up I think I get 50 or 60 cents off per gallon at Shell.

Interesting 0% ethanol claim for Shell V-power. This is the first I've heard about 0% ethanol in V-power in the DC/VA/MD area. I'll have to check it out....
