Default and a left nut. Sans labor...about $10-12k by the time you get all the extras dealt with...

like exhaust, clutch, downpipes, upgraded intercoolers, etc. It's probably still cheaper than tearing down a 4.2 and hopping it up "the old fashioned way."

When I do mine, I'm going to have to pay someone to do the K04's since I no longer have access to a lift and you've got to drop the engine for that.

Cheers,

Default Yeah (99 A4 2.8).. thinking the price diff of the 2.7<4.2 could pay for the stage 3

What do you think?

Default If it were me I would get the 2.7T...you can do much more with the 2.7T versus the 4.2...

What are your reasons for getting an A6?

Either way you have to understand this is a 4 door luxury SEDAN, not a Ferrari.

It roughly weighs 4,000lbs.

Keep that in mind.

Since you already own an A4 why not get a S4 with the 2.7T?

Default Nothing with any significant gains. If you are looking to tune a car, get the 2.7T, but...

above all else, go DRIVE the cars and make sure that you like them. Remember, you can ONLY get the manual tranny in the 2.7T, which can be chipped.

Note: you can also find a manual tranny in the older model 2.8, which you can supercharge, but for the same money, get a 2.7T and chip it!
