Default Vanity Mirror Light Issue

So just recently I noticed the little vanity mirror light was dead, I picked up 2 replacement bulbs and today I went to replace the bulb. When I took the original bulb out I noticed it should still be good, but I placed the new bulb in just in case. The light still doesn't work (driver side) the passenger side works fine though. The wiring is plugged in and no noticeable issues with the wiring. Any idea's?

I realize it's not a big issue but it annoys me lol

Have you tried testing the drivers side bulb housing on the passenger side? Should be the same size plug. That might help you narrow down it down to a possible wiring issue. My light only comes on when I slide open the mirror cover, if yours is the same you might need to check the connection to the mirror door.

Default Vanity light - switch on sliding mirror cover

I have the same issue - the passenger vanity light does not work. I have checked wiring, bulb, etc., and am relatively certain it is the switch in the sliding mirror cover (I hear it click when it is open and closed, but no light). Has anyone torn into the switch, or am I forced to but a new visor to fix this issue?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

You can take the whole housing out by prying left side (driver one), not the cover. then disconnect the elec plug. Pry the right side for passenger one.

Tape an electric tape to the screwdriver tip.

Default Vanity light

Thanks, but I want to make sure I understand your suggestion - do you mean that I can pry open the sliding mirror assembly, an access (and hopefully repair) the switch from there? I am not sure if it the switch or the wiring to/from the switch, but I am more than willing to try it out.

If so, excellent suggestion, I will let you know how it works out.

I did look at the visor, and my 2002 A8 dhas a sliding mirror cover, and it apperas that it is embedded into the visor, so it is not something that I can pry out as you suggested. (I think this might work on the flip open style assembly).

Anyone else have any ideas besides tearing the visor completely open?
