Are upper control arms the same for the 4.2 and S6
When I search my parts web site they say the S6's only have Lemfoerder parts (OEM) available but when I search 4.2 I get three options. Hard to believe they are any different.

s6 takes 8e0-407-5**-C series of upper arms
the others get 8e0-A series
I have yet to find the difference between A and C arms. Right now I have one of each same location. Same inner bushing part number on Lemforder arms.
On the A4 equipped with comfort suspension the arms called for are 8e0-A series. Vs.. A4/S4's with 1BE or 1BV suspension which is sport suspension.... which get 8e0-C series arms.
The inner bonded rubber mounting called for on the A4's is the same between the comfort and sport suspension. Tho the S4 with 1BD sport suspension calls for a different bushing... which is actually not used in the 8e0-C arms... GO FIGURE.
Are the two compatible... eh, maybe. The only difference I cant see or measure here is the size of the ball joint inside the end of the arms. Externally they appear to be congruent to the best of my observations this afternoon.

I noticed the part number difference and figured it was ball joint
I went with the A6 4.2 one which is a Febi/Bilstien control arm. It was 1/2 the price because it wasn't Lemfoerder. I am getting to be a pro at front uppers on these cars.
