Trying to Remove My Airbox Top to Do Some Maintenance. Please Help

I just recently bought my 2000 A6 and I want to take the airbox top off to change the filter and do a little cleaning around it. (I realize that the filter can be changed without removing the top but i would really like to take it off get everything cleaned up and repositioned property because right now it looks like the whole top is shifted towards the front of the car on the base). I have 2 questions before doing this.
1. how do i disconnect the clips on the top of the box? I am not familiar with these plugs because this is my first audi, what do i need to pull/press and do the colored parts actually come off or just the black ends?
2. Do I need to remove the air duct system leading to the box? Or can I get the top out without doing so?

First: remove the airduct that funnels air to the airbox. There are 2 philips head screws right at
the very front of the air intake (by the front grill). remove these and then pull the air duct out, all the way back to the air box.
2. The electrical connectors are a breeze, once you know how they work: simply depress the silver 'clips' you show there in your picture, and while holding the connector with one finger on the bottom and your thumb on top pressing on the metal 'clip', pull straight back to disengage the connector.

there is one more bolt to remove in order to remove the airbox: a small
bolt that screws into the passenger side inner fender. I beleive it is a 10mm bolt. Remove this bolt, then pull up on the air box and there are two rubber bushings on the bottom that will pop out of a couple of 3/4 inch holes in the base.
Note: it is easiest to replace your filter and fully close the airbox (all four metal clips) before reinstalling the airbox. It is tough to access the back clip with the airbox in the car, so a number of us just pull the whole unit to change the filter.

I use 3 fingers...one on each side and one pushing the silver clip.
It can be done one handed but two works better...if the connector won't move easily use a screwdriver or putty knife to separate the connector.
Put it back together with some dielectric grease on the connector, not on the connections.

Yeah, I need to be more careful. Not.
