totally freaking out, after STA, if I had a leak in the TBB or a bypass valve problem would I have a
high pitched whine under (and only under) hard acceleration? or would it only happen when I take my foot off the gas in mid range RPMs? There is no smoke from the exaust, but I should mention that it was low on oil about a month or so ago, I had it changed recently, and havent had a problem.
My car is a bone stock 2.7 2001 stick shift, and I am hearing a whine that is not normal turbo spooling under hard acceleration. I am feeling a some power loss, especially when I drive uphill.
I hate to spam the boards but i am REALLY freaking about about this.

LOL...I used to do that too...Could be the TBB or many other things...relax
Might be worth a pressure test of the intake system. Check out AWE-tuning.com for the PDF instruction guide to build your own Pressure tester. That will reveal any leaks.
Trust me when I say...when turbos go...you'll know it...black smoke, a shriek that sounds absolutely nasty, and absolutely no power. It's not your turbos!

Ha - yeah, it sucks to hear, but if you're "wondering" if it's your turbos, it's most likely not.
Even if you've never heard it before, the sound of a blown (going to blow) turbo will cause a decisive interpretation to say the least.

Ahahaha I love you OCD and not in a brokeback mountain way (cargasm not so much..heheh)
sure cargasm pick on the nuerotic newcomer heh..but some of the stories (and the price tags) are the stuff of nightmares.
4 to 6 thousand is not a penny to spend on a repair!

An exhaust leak post turbo could increase the whine. However, it could definitely...
be a roached turbo. I'd pressure test it and look for leaks on the turbo/intake side first. Then look for exhaust leaks. You can also map the requested vs actual boost with a VAG to see if you're losing a turbo.

Pressure test it, and don't go WOT until you find the problem. Or you may have the
turbo lady knocking on your door since the turbos are reaching higher boost levels trying to produce the required boost with the leak.
