Default Tires for Softer Ride?

2002 A-6 4.2 Sport (38K miles). Ride is often very harsh. Current tires are Z-rated. Would a softer, H-rated tire give a better ride? It doesn't seem like the shocks are bad.

Default What are the specific tires you have now?

Brand, type and size would help us help you better.

H rated tires will likely be softer but ride comfort is largely determined by the sidewall size and construction. In general a larger sidewall will have a softer ride. H rated tires generally have softer sidewall construction as well. Some tires have a stiff sidewall to increase turn-in feel. Going to a softer sidewall will increase comfort but sacrifice that handling feel.

If you are riding on stock size tires, changing the size to a larger sidewall is not really a good option. If you have lower profile tires than stock, going to the stock size will help a lot.

If you can tell us what you have we should be able to guide you to something more comfortable.
