tiptronic queston for My00
I have about 71K miles on my 00 Avant, now.
I don't know that I have noticed this in past years (maybe yes, maybe know), but I seem to notice less than smooth shifts, when the car comes out of the garage for the first time in the morning, cold weather. This morning, at start up, it was 36 degrees F. I drove down the hill in manual mode. Coming to a stop, as the trans swtiched itself to neutral, I felt a noticable "thump". I have felt the same "thump"
manually changing from 1st to 2nd, or 2nd to 3rd. By the time the car is all warmed up, after several miles, the "thump" is gone, and the shifts are smooth. Something to be concerned about, or just cold weather jitters?

WE don't get those kinda temps out here too much, but I do know the tip is a bit strange with shift
points out of first until it's warmed up. I've never heard a noise though, even at that. Make sure fluid is full (not easy), and maybe a VAGCOM is in order.

I have those temps and colder here in Toronto - same issue first thing in the morning -
I let it warm up a far bit - 2 mins + - then move on - not with the tip though. I recently had the tranny fluid changed and was told the fluid was perfect - 55,000 miles, and the filter was in great shape. Just let the car warm up a bit before driving off.
