Default Thursday Poll: What were the most awesome cars you ever got to drive ?

From the cars I owned, the M5 was the best unmodified, my second Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo was the
most awesome after tuning, but the most pure out-and-out fun was the Porsche Boxster. Yes I miss it.

Of cars I didn't own but got to drive, that RS6 Plus from the test drive I did back in April figures highly.
It surpasses my previous (non-owned) most outstanding drive which was a TVR Cerbera that I got to
drive a few laps around a racetrack in England. I also got to go around in a Jaguar XJ220 for a few laps,
but only as a passenger.

Most outrageous fun prize goes to the Caterham 7 that I got to drive in an Autocross competition
(won 3rd place), driving in figure 8's drifting around cones. First time I ever got to control a sustained
power slide like Tiff Needell :-)

Default Nice. I've tried to avoid testing an R8

All the tests I've seen (and all the awards it's won), I think after driving one, I wouldn't have the willpower to not get one, and I don't want to spend that much on a car. I'm already feeling that for a 997S, but the R8 I think will be twice as bad (good).

It's easier resisting the temptation to buy one having never driven one :-)

Default Depends.

Looking back, I'd have to say that the GT2 was the most awesome.

But thinking about how I actually felt at the time, it would be a toss between the 16v Scirocco and G60 Corrado. When I drove those cars I was working for VW. Both cars were highly anticipated, and both were a giant leap forward for VW. It's been almost 20 years, but I still vividly remember screaming down Route 17 in Glastonbury in a bright yellow Corrado, one of the first to hit the east coast dealers. The car and the color attacted more attention than any other car I've ever been in. That experience was truely awesome.

Default 1934 Packard V12 5-pass sport phaeton.

So much torque you could just leave it in 3rd gear all the time.

Default Well, I get my daily kicks from my 4.2, but other than that, the honor goes

to one of these I drove at Fontana last year. There's been the occassional drives in a Boxter S and a Cooper S, and a 2.7t (all loaners from my dealer), but other than various sedans and small sportscars I've owned, none of these is even on the same planet as the R8.
