'01 A6 Quattro might be haunted?
Okay, so my car isn't REALLY haunted, but sometimes I like to think that. I have a 2001 A6 Quattro Avant (2.8L V6). First thing is the dome lights. Sometimes they work just fine, but then they will randomly shut off completely. The front and rear dome lights will not come on using the switches or by opening the doors. Then, after driving for a few days or even weeks, the dome lights will randomly all come on and will only shut off if I put all of the switches in the 'off' position.
Around the same time this started, the automatic locks stopped working. I can lock and unlock all of the doors from the driver's side door with the key, but the door switch no longer does anything. Also, when I start driving, you can hear the automatic locking mechanism trigger and try to lock the doors, and then fires a second time immediately unlocking them. This happens every time without fail.
Any suggestions? I don't have a garage at my house to start pulling things apart and troubleshooting, but I am getting some wrench time in this next week and would love some ideas I can chase around while I'm at it.

Get a vcds from ross-tech. You won't need some wrench time until you do some OBDII time.
The vcds can likely identify the module/part needing replacement.
