Is there a cure for the diesel sounding nature of the 2.8/3.0 Engines?
NOt to say that I hate the valve train noise, I have had a C5 so long that I almost consider it part of the charm.
But, I was wonder if a valve adjustment woudl cure the diesel sounding nature of the V6. Every other V6 I have owned has been quite and smooth, the 2.8 and 3.0 sounds extremely loud for a V6 and as the revs climb it is far from smooth.
I knwo that some here have had their cylinder heads replaced, did that cure the valve tapping sound?
I never drove a New 2.8 or 3.0 so I dont knwo how much worse my engine is when compared to a new one.
Any thoughts?

it comes from the front passenger side of the engine compartment. But it seems very loud.
I researched it and did some poking around under the hood when it was being particularly loud.

What noise?
The only time I had valve lifter noise was when I discovered I was low on oil. The 30v 2.8/3.0 should have a silent head. Try a thinner synth oil for the cold weather.

no, castrol syntec 0W-30 seems to help though
5W-40 gives my wagon a back lower end knock for some reason.
on my 3.0 sedan back in the day, my dealer was pushing 15W-50 Synthetic through it...bhwhahahaha
