1991 Honda Accord, 5 Years
minor maintenance stuff only - oil, tune up, door lock hardware inside driver's door. Sold to my sister for $1 at 115K miles. She drove it till 220K miles. I bought it back for the dollar, did $700 worth of maintenance (tie rods, brake pad and fluid flush, trans fluid flush, new tires) and sold it to my niece for the 700$ I spent to fix it.

1987 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde. 17 years, 268,000+ miles. Very reliable, but very high maintenance.
Knowing the weak points (as with any car) has prevented almost everything outside of the ordinary from stranding me. The fuel pump relay (Bosch) is the only thing that has been unpredictable. Things like the starter motor, battery, ignition switch, all happened at intervals that would be expected in any car (Toyota included), given miles and the amount of stop and go the car has seen.
Scheduled maintenance has not been cheap or infrequent, but overall it's been cheaper than car payments on a much newer car. It helps to do most of the little things myself.

Mercedes E280 (W210, 1996) .... 5 years, Not a single thing needed fixing during that time.
Air-con needed refilling once, all servicing done to schedule at MB dealer and they never once said anything needed fixing.
