Disconnect your battery first...
then get a right-angle T-30 torx driver to remove the two torx bolts that are recessed on the forward facing part of the steering wheel.
You need the right-angle torx driver because of the space as well as the needed leverage to release those bolts.

Especially when dealing with airbags, it's a MUST..
And don't forget to ground yourself off to the car before you touch the things, and if you get out, make sure you ground yourself again before touching the airbags again.
Yes, static could cause the bag to discharge. Also, the ONLY safe way to store an airbag is with it facing UP, ie, the rings facing the ceiling. that way, if it were to happen to discharge, it wouldn't launch itself anywhere.
