Size rear crank shaft seal 4.2 l engine
Hi!
Is there anyone on this forum that have the specs on the seal thats on the rear end of the crank shaft?
According to ETKA there is no seal that can be bought separatly, you have to buy it already fitted to the rear flange for about 350 USD.
My car is a 1999 4.2 l Q Avant and the enginge for europe is called ARS and the equivalent in the USA is ART.
The flange have the same number for both engines and therefore they have the same type of seal.
OEM-number for the flange is 077 103 171 N.

Sorry. It seems the seal and the flange, although separate on the engine parts diagram, come as a combined assembly. Just because Audi chooses to sell it that way, however, doesn't mean whoever makes the seal won't sell it to you separately.
You might try removing the flange/seal, popping out the seal, and trying to get a part number/manufacturer off the seal.

Yes, thats correct. I looked into ETKA and the seal is separate on the picture but it doesnt have any part number.
I did some phone calls today and some intensive 'googling' and found what I believe is a part number that will give me my correct seal without the flange.
Its already ordered from my local VAG-dealer and it will arrive tomorrow and this weekend I will find out if my google skills will pay of.
The seals measurements is 105*85*12mm.

Yes absolutely. But I think its more correct to do so when its in place and I can say for sure that it is the right one. Otherwise maybe someone order that part with no use of it.
And I can also be in help of how it was to get it in place.

Ok, now Ive been under the car whilst putting it on the trailer.
The OEM-number on the seal is 078 103 051 A.
The seal I ordered were 070 103 051 A, by the looks of them they are identical.
According to a couple of sites they seem to be fully equivalent.
The aftermarket part 20033872B by Corteco will be good for the listed OEM-numbers and therefore the OEM-numbers part should be so like that one could replace another.
