To me, it's all a matter of perspective. Life's too short to drive crappy cars.
In the grand scheme of things, even at ~22 MPG and $4.00/gallon, it's only costing me an extra $100 or so each month compared to a year ago when I was driving a 4-cylinder Mazda Protege5 (an awesome car, by the way). Not that this isn't a substantial sum of money, but it's also paying for a lot of hours of pleasure. If I had to guess, I'd say I'm paying about $2/hour to enjoy this amazing car. Worth it in my opinion. What's the cost/fun ratio of say, an amusement park or a day at the race track?

thank god there's someone else concerned about other things
i drive 25k a year and even driving my gas hog premium eating monster of a car it only means an extra 2-3k for the whole year! I don't like it, but it's not going to force me to eat ramen or anything crazy...

Still drive the same but when prices start to hurt then I'll have to earn more $$ at the job.
I'll never downgrade my primary vehicle down to something that's less than 1/2 the 300hp I am used to. My past 3 vehicles (GMC Typhoon, Cadillac STS and Lexus LS430)have been around or at 300hp.
