car looks great, but the backdrop (telephone pole, 3 or 4 buildings) isn't great.

How about a suggestion? The next time you wash and/or wax your car, drive your car somewhere interesting about 1-2 hours before sunset.

Take your pictures at the end of the day. The light is MUCH better at that time for car photos.
