VAG diagnostic tool
Is the VAG on ecs the same one everyone on here is recommending i get or is it a different one? If the one on ecs is adequate im going to buy it i just wanted some opinions first. $110 seems like a much better deal than thousands for a new snap on scan tool.

Ross Tech is the one I see recommended most around here. They run about $250-$350 depending on the year of your car. A friend of mine has one, and despite that I'm getting one of my own. They're nice. Aside from doing diagnostics, you can also do things like turn off the goose fart horn honk when you lock and arm the alarm from the key. Now my lights just flash when I lock it.

I found two cables on the ECS website, one a generic obdii cable and the other an obdii scanner. Neither one is as useful as the Ross Tech VCDS cable and complete software. The Ross Tech may be more expensive, but it is well worth it as a diagnostic tool. You will also need a windows laptop... Check their website for details.

I dont need readiness monitors. I just need to clear the code long enough to have somebody inspect it. The tool im talking about is a VAG tool and it is capable of accessing rediness monitors as well.
