All,

My 2000 Audi A6 2.7 T , started to give an annoying screeching sound when it is sharlpley turned at almost static speed.

Can anyone suggest me something what needs to be changed or does it simply need oil?

power-steering related. If the levels are OK, it could be the power-steering pump. How many miles on the car?

No it does not make any sound when the car is moving. It makes sound only when the car is taking a sharp turn ( like U turn ) at a slow speed.

The car has almost 59,000 miles now.

at low-speed, sharp turn situations. Is this when you hear your car's noise? Any other times?

The suggestion of the rack and pinion is also a good one, but I'm not familiar with it's symptoms.

Is there a belt in there someplace that's slipping like on the power steering reservoir pump. Or am I totally wrong because there is no such item on an Audi?
