I have a 2000 A6 with the navigation, but the navigation console buttons have been broken since I bought the car. I have no desire to ever use the navigation in this car, but I really dislike having obvious things broken. I don't see any posts about removing or replacing the navi controls, does anyone have any knowledge of what's under the controls? If I could remove them somehow, could I replace them with the cupholder?

I believe there is a way you can. Mine did not come with the Navigation, It just has the cup holder but its real flimsy, I recommend searching for an upgraded one. I would imagine it would be very easy to just switch them out but you most likely have to take out the whole center console and the trim pieces that run up to the stereo.

This guy replaced the tray in an 05 AllRoad with a C5 cup holder.
Judging from several parts catalogs I've seen, the mounting bracket that holds the cup holder is the same one that holds the navigation panel, so it might be as easy as just removing the nav panel and inserting the cup holder in its place. I will do some experimenting later, to see if I can get the panel removed without pulling the whole armrest, but I doubt it.

That guy is talking about the coin tray above the radio, not the navigation buttons beside the power mirror control that replace the small pop up cupholder. I too would rather have a cupholder even though the navigation is functional. If I disconnect the BNS navigation controls will there be any error messages?
