Performance mod's for a 4.2?
Are there any mods that will give significant increase in HP? seems like exhaust and tranny chip yield only slight increase that may or may not translate into real #'s for HP and 0-60 and 1/4 mile.
Thanks

That's pretty much it, tranny chip helps out a good chunk thru the 1/4...
exhaust helps the 1/4 too, especially through the traps, you will pick up a decent gain in mph.
Superchargers, turbos, etc... all that stuff is non-existent for the 4.2.
You could fashion a ramair yourself, which would also yield some minimal gains thru the 1/4. There isn't really anything you can do for 0-60mph. My car has pulled low/mid 5's, high 13/low 14 thru the 1/4 at 99-102 depending upon the heat/humidity.
I think one of the best bets is to spend money on the lightest wheel and tire combination you can find (for racing). That will ultimately yield the lowest 60 ft time which will inturn yield your best 0-60, 1/4mi.
That's just my two cents.

LOL, best would be to start with a 2.7 6 speed.....
and purchase the 1/4 panels and the front fenders, and get the custom body work done (prohibitive, but not as expensive as a custom install on a supercharger, or nuking the 4.2 with NOS)

Nope. Nothing out there to cheaply up the HP on the 4.2. As others have said...
if you want to go fast and have something that you can modify for big power, get a 2.7T w/manual trans. AWE is pushing 450hp out of them on pump gas. Spending a "mere" $600 on a chip will get you a car that will be in the 13's at the strip. There aren't too many 2 ton sedans that can make that claim.
