Default possible problem with n80 valve

Hi all, was hoping someone can help me, i have a a6 98 2.4 v6 and everytime i fill up with petrol the car wont start.. the engine turns but there is no sound of firing.. i have tried too do a little bit of homework and seems that this could be down to the n80 purge valve. the car also will also struggle to start if i turn the engine off and leave it for a few minutes and return too start, the car will really struggle and sometimes will not even start . can someone confirm this is the n80 and if so i cant seem too find anywhere other than the usa too get the part.
many thanks in advance cal

Run the codes with a vag-com or OBDII tester. The vag-com will tell you if the n80 valve is gone.

Are you sure it is "2.4 v6"? Shouldn't it be 2.8? Anyway, I don't think N80 valve (if I think it's the same N80 I know which is a EVAP purge valve) is causing this issue. Check other things such as spark plugs, fuel lines and ignition coil pack. Possible loose connections cannot be ruled out (esp. to engine control module and/or Ignition coil pack). Also check coolant temp sensor.

Are you getting lot of fuel smell from exhaust when trying to start? If you do, it could be flooding. Check the basics first. Where are you located? If you are not inclined to do repairs on your own, probably it's best to visit an Auto repair shop. You need some tools such as VAG-COM etc.

That's the best I can do here without more info.

It's a european model, 2.4 was one engine choice.

i would do a lot more troubleshooting first before suspecting parts ..

what if you drive warm it up .. stop like you were getting gas but dont do that jjust stop for about the same amount of time it owuld take you to get gas .... then try and restart .. see what happens ... next time stop , get out and just release the fuel cap and put it back on , see what happenes ..

time after that .. see if it will start if oyu dont put the fuel cap back on .. i would just do some more playing before assuming anything.
