Default Orange stuff coating my coolant pipes. What is it? (pix)

Hey guys,

I did my timing belt this weekend and while taking out the water pump and thermostat i noticed this orange build up on my pipes, it wouldnt clean off with anything, even break cleaner.

Ive had a few of these cars and done a few timing belts but ive never seen this, wtf is it?

It looks like someone might have used an additive in your cooling system... Water wetter? Bars-Leak?

That's what it looks like to me too. You think it's worth replacing my radiator? It looks like it could cause cooling problems in the future.

Now that I think of it that probably makes sense because when I did the water pump it was leaking really bad so they may have tried to fix the coolant leak with some kind of additive. I'm really just worried about the consequences of this stuff being coded all along the pipes

Let' s see what others think. I'm trying to think, is rust conductive? If so, maybe ignore it....Also, while it looks like oxide, it is awfully bright in the pic, but pics lie

If you're not having cooling problems, I would leave the old radiator as it is... It sounds like you haven't had cooling problems in the past.

No cooling problems yet but I just got the car. Alright well I appreciate the input. I. Gonna try some radiator cleaner/flush and see if I can at least take some of it off.
