options\advice on a 2002 a6 with a dead CVT?

options\advice on a 2002 a6 with a dead CVT?
Not sure what good options I have here. Shop told me 2k+ to rebuild or get a new one, eBay doesn't seem to have them for under 1.5, and I don't know any other options.
What I have a my disposal:
~$800
A mechanic friend who would be kind enough to put in a new transmission if I found one.
Pretty damn nice southwest Florida weather
Is there any possibility of getting the 5 speed from the quattro (same 3.0 engine) or any other transmission that doesn't go for 1.5k used (lol) in there?
