With synthetic, definitely wait for mileage. 6 months is nothing, IMHO, if you haven't driven the car much.

M1 10W30 consistently tested nearly "as new" after 7,500k and 10k...
in my '98 A4 Avant 2.8, '01 A6 Avant, and M-B C280... based on used oil analysis.
I change at 6 mo/5k but you can let it go 12 mo. and 10k and probably be fine in a non-turbo if you want.
