My '99 Avant (2.8L 30V, auto, quattro) has recently developed an occasional engine missfire (~once every 3-5 seconds) while idling in drive when warmed up.

The computer isn't throwing any engine codes. Plugs look good (<20k miles), wires look good, VAG-COM shows fairly stable O2 readings when plotted for a few minutes (likewise with injector duration). Timing light on all the plugs shows constant spark.

Any suggestions where to look next?

If no code, then no misfire. Try some new plugs and change the coolant temp sensor to get rid of the stumble.
