Default you need a vag-com

To really read the codes and decipher what's going on with the CEL on your car get yourself a ross-tech VCDS or get yourself a friend who has one

Have you searched the forum? This is not uncommon.

Is the ABS light on?
Aftermarket radio?

Check the fuse.
Disconnect the abs module for the duration of the diagnostics.

did you read the other responses?

then STFA = Search The Forum Archives

If that doesn't solve your problem, go to an independent or dealer Audi shop and get them to do it for you.

You could have a bad module that's preventing you from communicating with your ECU. ABS is prime suspect, that's why 4Driver asked if you have beeping ABS lights on.

Did you check the radio as I suggested? Is it aftermarket?
