Default new APR chip hesitating...your's too?

Hi,

I just put in an APR chip for my 2002 2.7t 6sp. It is great! It delivers more power than I expected, but it has a spike at 4k rpm. Is this normal? I was told by the shop that it would smoothe out after two cold starts, but it didn't. I notice it most in second gear. It's not a bad thing; I'm just not sure it should be there. What do you think?

Default A fellow allroad'er with similar problem discovered a tear in his TBB...

I suspect the added boost brought the problem to light but that it was always there. Good place to start.

Default Questions..I've had both APR types in mine..

Soldered in and Flash. The solder in is 3.0 and the flash is 5.0..which do you have?

I had many spikes with 3.0 and the boost level of 3.0 is over 19 PSI, so I had some over boost codes and cuts too.

The boost level of 5.0 is 15PSI.
5.0 Also plays with the fuel map more and yeilds the same feel and power as 3.0 but no spiking or hesitating. Like Ed said, do check you plumbing, a simple leak could be the cause.

Default pretty sure it is soldered in but I'll have to call the shop...

Is there a way to upgrade the 3.0 to 5.0 or is it a different service? I just assumed that I was getting the most recent software. I should have made sure.
