New a6 owner - kinda worried. Did I make a mistake?

I had the same car but in stick. Just traded it in at 135,000 miles and it was still going strong (I just needed a change of scenery). I had a few problems but nothing major. The coil packs went a twice but I was able to limp the car home each time. The secondary water pump started to leak, replaced it, no big deal. I changed the oil every 5k, went through lots of tires (lots of potholes here in the northeast), and a few brake jobs. I did everything myself except the timing belt. Do yourself a favor and change the water pump while you have the front end apart. When I traded it in it still looked brand new. I had that car the longest of any car I've ever owned. Before that I had the S4 with the same engine. No problems there either.

GTA - I like the wheels on your pic. What are they? I have been looking at different wheels but it's hard to envision what they would look like after they are installed on the car.

Those are Racing Sparco NS6 19". They are no longer made, and unfortunately I bent them. Right now it's on stock wheels. IMO they are the best wheels out there, too bad it's impossible to find replacement.

. There is a clunk in the front end when I turn at lower speeds but both myself and my mechanic looked through the front end and couldn't find anything noticably worn that would do that.
Igood information. I purchased a Bentley manual last night.
Any suggestions? Should I resell the car while it’s still running well?[/QUOTE]
If you have a worn bushing (sway bar, etc..) you should be able to re-create the noise by driving over a curb at slow speeds with wheels turned creating 'extra' load. In any case, it's a cheap 'fix' that helps 'tighten up' the lower end.
You're on the right path with Bentley in hand; wouldn't own an Audi without one.
Good luck, from Audihip
'87 5000CD (since '90),& '90 200 ('06); both still on the 'road'- but ready for retirement (I'm already there); also '04 Hemi Ram Laramie.
Now shopping for '07-'08 A6 or A8 (4.2), S6-S8 tempting, but for $$$$.

Funny...my Saabs and Volvos required more towing than the Audis...our 2K4.2A6 has been towed twice in 12.5 years and 162K miles. Once for the transmission at 32K (warranty) and once for the recent heater hose plastic disconnect fitting failure.

My total maintenance and repair bill for the first 11 years I had the car was just under $5k and the car never once stranded me. Absolutely exemplary experience that made it very easy for me to buy my 2012 A6.

I also just obtained an a6 but a 99 quattro avant. She just passed 200k miles but seems pretty solid to me! Timing belt and pump last changed at 168k by the dealer so that seems fine for now. Only issues so far are the abs module and i think the sunroof switch, it works sometimes no random openings yet, tried to apply the switch fix but doesn't seem any better, new switch? The a/c also isn't cold but I don't think the car was run much the past few months. Sorry to threadjack but I feel like I am in nearly the same boat!
