Believe what you like. Oil has changed a little and engines have changed a lot allowing 10K, 13K, 15K and now even 20K change intervals when not that many years ago 3K was the norm and 5K was "long", and 7.5K was amazing.
Lots of cars with extended change intervals run just fine well past 150K and even well past 200K miles.
What takes cars off the road these days due to mileage is transmissions, and other expensive items, not engine rebuilds.

Sure some cars, like 9 quart capacity Mercedes with no turbos or anything sure. Do some extended oil changes on a Audi 2.0T and watch it blow up by 80-90k. Just had one in with 72k on it and the chain tensioner was packed full of sludge and nearly destroyed the chain. They serviced it on time at the dealer, The inside of the engine looked hideous. You make these generalizations that all engines are the same. They are not. some are VERY hard on the oil and have common failures. I dont have to believe anything, I see it all the time in a shop setting.
Compared to the 60's ,70's and 80's, with 3k change intervals how often do you see an oil related failure under 100K (or even 150K)?
Remember when 100K was a REALY old car, and 9 time out of ten it was smoking, knocking or the engine had been rebuilt?
Sure there are some engines that are hard on oil, turbos especially, but remember the 80's and 90's turbos that would coke up their bearings?

i have a budy with a 07 MB and he is getting a code that his flapper motor on the intake is jammed .. anyone wanna bet the intake runner is coked up and jamming the flapper ?

P.S. the intake junk in MBs is from the EGR and not how "hot" the engine runs.

i will ask and get back. i did some research and we suspect a broken actuator rod. they break for a reason though. probably too much resistsnce inside the manifold. too early to tell though.
