As much as I wanted Jr. Driver's pinewood derby car to be a four-ringer...
...and that is how the project started, after a few hours of work we ended up with this...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/Pack_160/IMGP4312.jpg">
I am proud to say that Jr. Driver did most of the work, although I "finished" the sanding/shaping, he did a lot of the design, initial cutting, and he did the spraypaint (although I masked for the stripe).
Weight came in at 4.7 oz...limit is 5.0, but I ran out of lead golf tape (a/k/a belly pan material)...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/Pack_160/IMGP4314.jpg">
Races are tomorrow, and the Clone Pilot is raedy!!!
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/Pack_160/IMGP4315.jpg">
For (non-A6) Audi content, I have a few extra kits, and I am going to make one into a 1939 Auto Union D-Type just for kicks...

open wheels only, no fenders allowed :(
...the rules were very strict on this, and you should have seen some of the cars that showed up last night for the weigh-in!
My favorites included the Mach 5 Speed Racer, and an Indy Jones themed car that played the theme music. I believe about half of the cars were actually made by the kids (partial involvement), and the other half were done completely by the fathers. Some of them are a bit too competitive.

hey, there's nothing in the rules that says you can't use the "force"

It was a common theme...
there were three other Clone Trooper cars that showed up. One did not qualify (the cockpit was not deep enough so the head would hit the finish gate, and the others were a bit too light, so they will not be as fast.
