Mine is back in. I never drove the car with a working display so I am not sure, but it seems a bit bright. The black is not as dark as I thought it would be.

It might be because the dimmer **** is flakey, and likes going to full bright.

Or it could be because this LCD is not biased dark enough.
Either way, at least it is very readable.

Just installed mine, it's real nice to have it working again. The display seems to respond to the dimmer dial although it doesn't completely dim out the background. There maybe something in VAG-COM that may help? The top 1/3 portion of the display goes completely dark with the radio off. Overall satisfied with the LED replacement, shipping from ModuleMasters was second to none with protective foam shaping to the instrument cluster.

For me the $200 was reasonable considering what a new one goes for. A Chinese cluster may have been cheaper but wasn't the route I wanted to take.
