Jeebus! Another slow day on the forum :P

I like it, but for different reasons than I liked the A6
The SAAB reminds me of the old '80s and '90's VWs. It's very simple, sturdy, and feels good. Nearly every time I drive the SAAB these days I'm reminded of my '86 Golf.
The 9-3 simply doesn't compare to the A6. Whereas the A6 was good at everything (except maybe acceleration with the 2.8) from cargo space, sporty road manners, and room for up to 5 people, the 9-3 is strictly a 4 seater with limited cargo space and no "toys".
There are times when I miss the A6, but I really, really am enjoying driving the convertible.
If we want to talk about the metrics, the SAAB puts out more power, gets better fuel mileage, feels lighter through the corners, has a better AC unit (when the top's not down), and is a stick shift so it's more fun to drive. The 2.8 had much better traction (I keep lighting up the front wheels around wet corners), more luxury toys, able to carry more luggage, had better accommodations for rear seat passengers, and WAY better cup holders.

I actually like the new nose, though I think the rest of the body is a bit boring
I'll be honest, I'm intrigued by SAABs new XWD and would probably consider it over an A4. Well, maybe a B7 A4, the next A4 looks gorgeous.

I liked the "night panel," as well as the radio having a weather button. It was really fun kicking
in the turbo, although as you say, it tended to be rough on front tires. Neat for scaring the crap out of people though.

Agreed
The night panel is cool for late night trips on the highway, but not during normal driving because I like to be able to see the tach. It's fun to watch what additional information lights up under certain conditions (upper range of speedo, the tach near redline, the SID for some warnings, etc).
The WB button IS clutch, especially with a convertible.
My favorite turbo action is when my son is in the car and we make a LEGAL pass on the roadway. After overtaking, he likes to say, "TURBO!"
