Default Installing AWE coolers......the progress

So far so good. Got the intercoolers on Wed. I'm really impressed with how well built these are. I'd say these way at least 2x as much as the stock units. Overall size is slightly bigger than stock which makes install a snap on the A6. The instructions suggest installing the pass side IC first by pulling out on the rad support and wiggling it up thru the bottom. That's retarded so I tried from the top. Piece of cake. Dropped right in without any struggle. Still need to trim the core support plastic to allow clearance for the air ducts, which BTW are pretty nice. Not sure how much trimming will be required to fit on A6 bumper. Driver's side IC is easier than the other side.

I found an ingenious way to attach the tranny cooler to the back of the IC. Zip ties. I installed some foam rubber padding between the two and zip tied together by going through the veins of the IC. The trick is finding a zip tie long enough and thin enough to work. I've seen those ties used to hold aftermarket electric fans to the radiator, but haven't been able to source any.

I'll post pictures of progress tomorrow.

Large zip ties are used in the Heating and air conditioning industry. Check in supply stores.

Default YES!!!! Those are the "zip ties" I was looking for. Thank you!

Install is a lot easier than I thought. The A6 fender area is huge compared to the S4.

I'm also going to vent the fender liner for further airflow. I might also install a small street bike cooling fan, with on/off switch, on the back of each intercooler for "enhanced" cooling on hot summer days at the drag strip. The superbike rad fans are tiny and would easily fit.
