Default I STFA (omg!) and it seems the consensus here is that removing the headlights on a 99 A6

is near impossible without removing the bumper correct?

*edit* forgot to mention that the guy I bought it from has one Xenon bulb and one regular headlight - a real genius. So that's why I'm trying to remove the headlight assembly.

I just brought home my "new" '99 A6. Definitely a big difference in road manners from my '03 A4! But my fiancee loves it, and I'm really loving the look, just gotta work on the suspension soon!

TIA

Default yeah i took off the two top screws and loosened the other one on the side, but still couldn't get it

to come off. Guess this has to wait for the weekend I'm gonna be driving around with one Xenon and one yellow halogen headlight.

Do you actually have a headlamp with an HID ballast?

Default i was trying to get at the housing with the halogen bulb to see if i can change it out

the car has one brand new headlight housing, and one original headlight housing. The car was in an accident, and the driver's side headlight housing was replaced. But it has a halogen bulb in it. So I have no idea if I can just swap the bulb or if I need a whole different headlight. That's why I wanted to remove it

Default I was trying to remove the headlight housing to figure out just that :) the pass side is HID, but

the driver side I'm not sure. The guy I bought the car from didn't have a frickin clue so I'm just trying to figure it out for myself, since I've never worked with the A6 before.

Default oic!... That's fu**ed up. Sounds like you bought a car designed by Dr. Frankenstein ; )

I thought that you wanted to pull the housings because one side had an HID "look" bulb, and you wanted to replace it! I would have LMAO if you did that...

Default you have no idea...its black but when i first saw it it had white PINSTRIPES along the sides!

I told the guy I would buy it if he removed them professionally (he owns a collision shop). The engine is strong and well maintained, but damn did this guy have bad taste!
