Default How often do you see this on these cars?

I've got two broke in the same place. I'm guessing from the horrible roads here around Philly.

what is broken? are you talking about that split there where the control arms go through into the knuckle? that is suppose to be there the pinch bolt clamps it down around the ball joints of the upper control arms.

What's broken? Looks like someone took a hammer to that control arms, but other than that I see nothing.

I see some hammer marks left by whoever was doing the job previously (sic), but other than that they look ok?

you do know those are ball joints and are supposed to move, right?

wow, that is new to me. I figured they were broken with the way the split is not clean/even. My bad.

do a little reading, the front suspension on these cars is unreal, that being said, cant really compare to any other cars youve may have seen

It's not a split. It's two separate upper control arms. You're looking at two separate ball joints. Unless you're confusing the slit in the upright (where the bolt goes through) with an uneven crack.

The literal answer to your question is, on all C5 audis.
