Front Axle Torque Spec
Can anyone tell me the torque spec for the 10mm triple square (12 point - 6 bolts) for the front axle to the transmission and also the huge bolt to the wheel bearing and the axle.
Thanks.
This is for a 2000 Audi A6 4.2L Quattro.
Thanks again.

Thanks for teh quick reply! How bout the bolts on the upper link?
I was reading on the tech page, (https://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel.html) and I see of the pages stated to be 85lb/ft or 90lb/ft for the axle bolt and 30lb/ft for the triple square bolts. Are they only apply for A4? Because that is a huge difference in the lb/ft.
Also, if possible, can anyone please let me know the torque spec for the nut on the bolt of the upper links (control arms and the tie rod) The link above said 30lb/ft, I want to make sure on that as well. Thanks.

Re: I got those numbers out of the Bentley, just now. 30 lb/ft on the pinch bolt sounds good to me..
Thanks alot Kris.
I got the Bentley too.. paid for $99 + tax/shipping.
And I only got 2 S/N. (bought it 3 yrs ago) and my computer crashed so many times since than (window, so what do you expect) and now I have no more S/N to use my Bentley! I really think the way they restrict the copy of Bentley is VERY STUPID! considering I paid $99 for it!!!

Ok so what is it, found a bently on vaglinks and it says 51ftlb but that's for non air shocks. Then I have read 30ft lb's on other forums plus using red loc tite. and now you say 40 ft lbs. Please someone let me know asap since I am currently doing this job. I know 140 ft lbs for the main half shaft bolt plus 180 degrees but I am gonna give it 145 ft lbs and call it good there, should I use red loc tite or is torquing good enough on the tripple square bolts and the main half shaft bolt. thanks in advance. I have a 2002 audi allroad

I put the outer axle bolt to 145ftlbs and tried to tun it a little more and I believe that is fine. I ended up torquing the 6 inner half shaft 10m triple square bolts to 30ftlbs with red loctite since any more than 30ftlbs seemed like a lot. I really need to figure out if that is ok for these triple square bolts or if it was supposed to be more, 51ftlbs seemed like way too much and I could have possibly went to 40ftlbs but I did read a lot of people saying 30ftlbs with red loctite but I would really like to know for sure since I don't have a shop manual yet.

I have a 2001 1.8t quattro, not sure if they're the same, but I called the dealership and they said if it has 8mm bolts they're 40NM, if they're 10mm it's 80NM
