Default fob battery replacement

How does one open the remote section of the fob to get to the battery?

What generation do you have? They change over the years. As I recall (my '04 had a switch blade key) the fob slid apart. Your best bet is to look on YouTube for video. I also recall one edge having a small indent that allowed you to use a small screwdriver to get it started.

My switch blade remote is for my '02 2.7T A6.
Easy to separate the switch blade half from the remote access section.
What's not obvious is how to open the remote access half to get to the battery.
NDTBT before.
