EGR valve curse...
Well, I think the coolant leak is fixed. It's got new oil, new Mann oil filter, couple new hoses and all my "discount" service tools seemed to work. In fact, SnapOn had in their database an updated cranklock pin which is shorter and works A MILLION times better! Holy cow I can't believe how much easier it is then the one blauparts sent me! (Still a pain in the ***, but like 15 minutes of pain in the *** instead of hours)
The issue now is the freaking passenger EGR valve. I had temp fixed it with just some high temp silicone between the adapter arm and engine block and torqued the two short bolts down enough that it wasn't leaking. However, wanting to do the job correctly I took it apart and cleaned up the surface to get the gasket in between. Took FOREVER but I got it all aligned and guess what, it's basically impossible to get that 3rd screw (the one that seems to only hold the gasket and not actually the lower arm of the valve) in because of the position of the exhaust manifold (?)!
So because of that I think it's allowing a leak along that edge of the gasket even though the other two mounting bolts are torqued down and the gasket is aligned. So I took a half *** fix and corrected it to a leaking gasket... Yay?
I'll try to get one of those bend screw things and see if maybe I can get enough clearance then, but I don't know if I can even get a small screw driver sized hex bit on it!
I may give up and have the dealer do this...

I'm thinking about tossing the gasket and going back to my makeshift silicone solution but if they make the part and show it in the service guide... Shouldn't the gasket be used? :P

Ah, *combi* valve.
There is no EGR system on these cars. Last engine to get EGR was the 12v, which was phased out in 1998.
If leaking, it's just a matter of getting everything aligned right. If the two mating surfaces are not aligned, it will leak. Sealant might delay it, but eventual leak is inevitable.
