Default door latch assembly

I have removed the assembly and the micro switch is broken (the plunger broke in half). What i am wondering is if i can just clip the switch out and splice the wires together. I know that my car will not know when the door is open or not but i really dont care about that. I just want the dumb chiming to stop.

Default Desperate folks take desperate measures

Not sure why I'm finding humor in the door chime comment but I can see your point, sure you can tie them together but you will lose interior lights and something else I'm missing too like security features if the car is pre 02.

For chime to go away, you can re-code the cluster to an EU setting. All chimes will be disabled with that setting.

Also yes, for your question. Although since you didn't provide year or model, I can't tell you which position in the switch is for open/closed.

You will also loose the seat memory position with different key fobs and the "one touch" seat memory setting. The system has to know the door has been opened for the seat to automatically move to the set position.

I have a drivers (unsure if they are the same from side to side) door latch brand new that I never put in if you want to make me an offer. Has the switches etc already in it...

Oh, sorry. I have a 2001 Audi A6 (4.2 V8). I tried to just glue the switch down but that did not correct the problem. Im going to take the door panel off again today and try and figure something else out. Depending on how much you want for the latch id consider it.
