save yourself the hasssle and get a whole replacement assembly for 40 bucks or so off ebay .. brand new from china .. mine works great .. if your in minnesota you know its gonna work fine till it hits -20C then youd be wishing you had changed it .. coz then you cant get your door to close and will be doing it in the cold.
a) You never know if a used ebay won't have or develop the same problems
b) I need a solution in place by noon tomorrow (too late for china order)
Any suggestions for where the white square rubber piece goes?

That said, I have a couple of cars, just for the peace of mind that allows me to wait up to a week for parts.

vtraudt, I had same issue when I opened my module. Little square white rubber piece ends up on the table, & had to figure out where it goes. I looked at pics in this thread & couldn't recall where I ended up putting it. Possibly I have some pics at home that I might have taken when open. I could not really find an obvious problem in my module, except for slight corrosion of some of the circuit traces. All micro switches seemed to work OK & no shorts or open circuits. The problem I had was that all doors would unlock & all windows would go down, without any command to do so. Both times it happened when it rained out. Unplugged electrical connector to the module for a long time just to stop the fault, and somewhat recently opened it up, expecting to fix the problem. I cleaned & resealed some of the traces & added small amount of white lithium grease to moving parts. When I closed the module up, I resealed it with silicon, just in case it was moisture intrusion. Haven't yet installed it on car, so I don't know that I fixed anything. If I have pics at home, I 'll post them.
Hadn't realized I could get another module so cheaply. Will keep that in mind, if there is a next time.

Also, turns out I have a brand new driver side lock. Installed. Working.
Separated the mechanical from the electrical part (2 srews, 2 tabs to press in).
Flooded, soaked, blew out with WD. Repeat. Moved all parts. Repeat. Then sprayed White Lithium grease into all crevices. Installed. Works (well, after I had to take the panel off again since I forgot to plug in the electrical connector into the lock module).

It may be too late for you, but here is a US-based reseller of these NEW parts. I have had good success with his parts, this one in particular...

Let me guess that you won't have a solution in place by tomorrow….
Just get the new part, rent or borrow another car for the time yours is down if you can't live with the existing problem.

vtraudt, what were the symptoms of your bad lock module?
Here's pic of mine, showing where little white rubber square goes.
