Default Dome light issue..

my dome light works fine untill you turn on the ignition. then it go dim and starts blinking. both front doors do this, but the rears dont. also I never do get a door open warning on the dash for either front door. Deeler wants to change the latches at $400 each. any ideas?

Use VAG-COM to test the switches and diagnose the problem?

Default i had this same issue.

you might have watter damage due to overflow from clean air cabin filter section. usually happens when you get leaves stuck in the drains in the area below the windshiel under the hood where the battery resides. i had the same thing where my passenger door would blink and my driver side door would cause it to stay on. look underneath where the TCM resides and see if there is water there and look for corroded wires.

Default Re: Dome light issue..

My car started doing that before complete failure of the dome light, you may also find that the windows become intermitent. If you run vag com it will state something along the lines of delay relay short - cant remember exactly.

I ignored the issue and now I have no windows, sunroof dome lighting, sun visor etc - basically everything thats connected to fuse 14 - but isnt the seat shorting as some others have found on this site.

Default If it is BOTH front doors, I'd guess it was the central module, but...

...as 4driver4 said, find a VAG COM (you can go to a local AutoZone to get a free scan) to find the fault codes.

I doubt it is the door latch since it is more than one door...although not impossible for both to fail at the same time, it's just unlikely.

Default I hope it is not that, but probably a good guess...

...but easy to diagnose...if he feels the carpet under the passenger front floor mat and it's damp, bingo!

Default No codes for it, everything else works.. but..

I might have a water issue since we had the recall for the water on the floor. it was noted on the work order for the recall so maybe I can get it covered as related damage to the recall...

Default yes if the work was done..

they usually have a time frame and mileage for when you can return it so it can be repaired free of charge. just look at the receipt.
