Default Bluetooth. When I get in my car my cellphone ...

... connects automatically to the adapter. When I get (or make) a call the radio mutes and the caller voice plays over the built-in cellphone speaker in the car, and I talk thru the built-in mike in the roof.

The only difficult part was tracing a "mute" signal on the adapter circuit board, and then wiring a simple (one transistor) inverter circuit to drive the radio mute line. Depending on your choice of Bluetooth adapter, though, that may already be present.

Oh... and here is the device I originally got, if you're really interested:<ul><li><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Parrot-DriveBlue-Drive-Blue-Bluetooth-Handsfree-Car-Kit_W0QQitemZ120353735228QQihZ002QQ">&lt;ebay-no affiliation&gt;</a></li></ul>

That does sound nice. I've got to find a way to do that in my '00.

Default Can you explain more or email me?

Is this something I can wire together or did you develop a board layout for it?

Default Not difficult - but a bit time-consuming and fiddly...

I just used a piece of RadioShack perfboard (see the photos) for the interconnects between the RJ45 cable and the fine single-core wires to the switches etc on the PCB of the BT module. I also used it to hardwire/mount the simple one-transistor voltage inverter (the mute signal was +ve on the PCB, but the radio/headunit requires a grounded signal to mute IIRC).

I'll email you some other photos but It was long ago and I don't have much else.
