Default Does any current cell phone work with the '01 A6 phone system?

I never bothered with the original hands-free phone system in my '01 A6 because cell phones were rapidly evolving and changing then and the factory (Motorola?) phone was very expensive and already obsolescent. But things change, so I've wondered if any current phones may be compatible without hiring an electronics engineer to do an interface.

Default IIRC, it was an entirely analog system even though

digital phones were already common at the time. So I don't think there's any value to the system today, but like you I'm no electronics engineer either.

Default Hi! I'm an Electronics Engineer, this is what I did...

Adapted a portable Bluetooth module as a direct plugin to the connector under the armrest...

Plus the 'loopback' plug to the connector in the trunk...

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/47880/blueth_4.jpg">

Then wired to send/end switches (not yet installed in photo) on a generic phone holder that slots in to a blank switch position on the dash...

Seems neat, but since I'm NOT an electronics engineer, can you explain what all that does for you?
