Default did Audi acutally test the C5 is a snowy, cold environment?

with the 02+ wiper design?

the windshield freezes with ice driving in snowy conditions. ice accumulates fast on the windshield via the wipers. what does melt, gets smeared all over the glass and refreezes, and it builds.

the defroster doesn't do enough...you have to use the up arrow on the hvac control, turn it up to hi, and crank up the fan.

that's a lot of fun if you have to travel a long way.

i'm glad i buy the VW concentrate washer and use it undiluted. that helps a little.

i wonder if the C6 is any better? anyone have a comparison?

Get the de-icing winshield washer solution. With defrost blasting and the solution, it helps a lot.

Default I was going to pose this very question

My windows fog terribly. Whenever I park the car and get back in they're completely frosted up and it takes awhile to clear.

The wipers really suck. They freeze and don't clear at all. What does get cleared builds up on the left of the windshield and I have to break off every so often. The pivots on the blades ice up badly too.

What really gets me is too is when you open the doors, all the snow falls on the seat. Grrr! And the snow seems to end up in the middle of the rear window too. I clear it off and within a mile or so it's got a huge pile right in the center again.

I love how the car handles and it drives like a dream, especially in snow. I guess you take the bad with the good.

Default well, you can solve two problems pretty easily...

...snow falling on the seat is NOT unique to the A6 or to Audi, but just clear the snow with your glove along the door seams before you open the door. No more snow on the seat!

Snow blowing on the center of the back window? Clean the snow off your roof a bit more and you will not have that problem. If the snow is falling so fast that it is accumulating and blowing off, well, again I doubt this is unique to the A6 or Audi.

But yes, I agree, the wiper design sucks, but so do the wipers on my wife's Honda Pilot.

Default Get dedicated winter wipers, they make a huge difference. The thing I don't like about long haul

driving in the snow is the Xenon lights. In a bad storm at night, they are so blinding, but that is with any xenon. The second thing is that because there is no heat build up with the lights, the snow and ice build up quickly over the lights causing visibility to drop significantly. I have been in a few storms where I had to stop every 20 miles or so and bust off the ice and snow from the headlight so I could see again.
Don't get me wrong, I love my xenon lights 99.9% of the time. This is just a side effect I found.
