99 A6 2.8 Bad Cat options
my 99 A6 2.8 has a bad cat (rattle and code 16806)
I do not have any emissions testing and I am just wondering what I should do. my first thought is just to empty the cat and probably add the non-foulers and see what happens. or I can just stick in a universal cat just in case I sell the car to someone who might need emissions testing. Or I could just add a test pipe and sell my cat for scrap!
So has anyone done any of these options and been happy or dissatisfied with them?
right now the Car runs great so the cat is not plugged, but it does rattle.
typically in the past I would always empty the cats for a little better performance and tone, but I have never done this on a car with a rear O2 sensor.
and of course the other option is to just add the non-foulers to the car as is. leave the cat alone and just modify the sensor. This option I think would work but not sure it this is really a good option since I have no idea what the cat will do in the future, I would hate to have it plug up later, but it could easily just fall apart and empty on it's own or Plug!
LASTLY what size is the pipe? I assume 2.25? or is it 2.5? Esc has both sized cats
