Default Chrome strip along lower boot edge - how to remove and sand down?

How do i remove this? Also has anyone sanded this down? mine has become partially stained and matt, I was wondering if I should sand it all matt with some 2000 grit paper?

Default removal will destroy the trim strip. You can either...

mask the paint and try to sand in place, or just buy a new one for about $70 USD. The one from 2002 and later, which will fit your trunk, comes in a brushed finish.

Default if they're aluminum like the A8's you can do it but it will take more than 2000.

you have to get through the anodized finish. I've done it on my car but it was a lot of sanding and then buffing.

Start with 240 and work your way up.

They are attached to the inside of the bumper (must be removed) by clips and screws. Again, probably the same but I have an A8.

BTW, they do come out pretty nice and you can maintain them with aluminum polish.

Default The A6 strip is held in with some pretty tough tape and clips...

removal will destroy the trim. I'd find the post (with pics) of the removal process, which shows how it is affixed to the A6 trunk, but AW search is down

Default as BD said..small peg anchors and adhesive, just Pull and Yank...use a flathead if it helps...

There's about 5 pegs, all on the car, as part of the trunk. they will stay on the trunk and the white clips leave with the old trim. (this is an 01...not sure about 02+)

goo gone is your friend for this

Default sure but just note as BD says, its a one way street...once you remove it, the trim is ruined

so replace with a new strip
