check engine light one more time, 2000 A6 Avant
Well, the check engine light is on again,, second time this year. 76K on my 2000 Avant.
Last time, it was for a failed emissions evap pump, and it was a fortune to fix. Who knows what it will be, this time? It seems like I have been making repairs to this car all year. And with possible control arm/tie rod issues, and rear bearings as well, I am definitely beginning to think/believe its time for another brand.

What is interesting is that my bros 2001 911 C4 Cab is cheaper to operate than his 02 allroad.
And if you figure in depreciation on the Audi, then the P car totally kills it. His 911 has been a cheaper car over the long haul.
I started to compare items like clutches and window regulators, hell, even spark plugs and the P car uses cheaper parts compared to the 2.7T
Most expensive item is tires for the 911. He has over 90K miles on it and only 85K on the Allroad and had easily doubled the maintenance costs for the Allroad vs the 911.

$h!T. You've discovered my evil plan to dump my S6 in 12 mos and buy 911turbocabrio.
Because my extended warranty is up in 22mos.....

have driving other cars longer, and into 6-figure mileage, with only a fraction of the problems.
It has been very frustrating, considering the cost when new. Apparently, there seem to be plenty other folks on this form with similar frustrations.

If you wanted Toyota reliability, then you should have bought a Toyota.
European cars require maintenance, more than American/Japanese cars IN MY OPINION. You should never own an aging euro car unless you diy or have deep pockets.
Sell it and get a Camry now. I'm being serious! If this irritates you now, wait until your valve cover gaskets/cam seals leak, timing belt needs changing.....blah blah blah needs to be changed.
Camrys/Accords/Mazda6s/Altimas are great cars. Sell yours now before doing the timing belt/control arms.
