Default Check Engine Light

My check engine light came on today. Nothing seems to be different than usual (i.e. it's still driving fine). The only thing I have noticed is that since I bought the car, it seems to hesitate (or slighly cut-out) when I take off first thing in the morning, and only on the first time I accelerate.

Any ideas of common causes for the CEL, and does anyone think it may be related to the hesitation?

It's a 2003 A6 3.0 (non quattro)
Automatic
21,500 miles

Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

Default Check Engine Light Code Update

I took the care to the local Autozone and pulled the CEL code (a helpful tip from the forum).

P0421-Warm Up Catalyst Below Threshold

Does anyone have any idea what this means, and what's involved with the repair?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I searched the archive, and it seems that if the cat is failing, the dealership should replace it free under the 8/80 federal emissions warranty. My car is an 03 with only 21,500 miles on it.

I am right in this line of thinking? has anyone run into any issues with trying to get this replaced under the warranty?
