id really like to know how aftermarket cats dont last as long as the OEMs.... they all have to conform to the same standard federal warrenty of 8 years - 800000 miles..... in this case looks like the oem ones failed.... also had my , OEM cat fail on my 99 jetta. NEVER have had an after market one fail.....

Default Based on his experience

He told me he's had to redo too many aftermarket cats at about 12K miles after installation. How and why is not known. Possibly the OEM uses something in the element that the aftermarket ones don't?

The quality of aftermarket is not as good. If you haven't had an aftermarket unit fail, you haven't owned the car long enough after installing it.

I'd say go OEM. but whatever you do if you go with just the cat and no pipes make sure they weld that sucker up nice cause when I got mine done it made an ugly every time I accelerated cause they didn't weld it right and water always dripped from that spot.

i will be replacing the bank one cat on an 03 A6 Q 3L and cannot seem to find a procedure on it. Anyone have any advice on how to actually replace one. I have factory parts for it, I spent a short amount of time looking at it to plan my attack, but i just dont see a way to remove it without lifting or dropping the engine. ANY help would be much appreciated
